how do you stop?

This is an example of one of those drawings that pisses me off. Actually, it's myself that pisses me off. I cannot blame the drawing. I piss myself off for not knowing where to stop. Originally, I set out to draw a nice piece of lined paper, a pen and a little bit of a brainstorming doodling session. That was it. But part of the way into it I started seeing a brain, and then the sea, and some land, and I just kept adding layer upon layer until I ended up with what looks like a bloody pirate's map. Not that I've ever seen a pirate's map. Then, I was so annoyed I smudged it all with my sleeve. Purposely, I should add.

I don't know what else to say.

definitely have days like that and then I pound on myself because I don't think I should have days like that which, of course, we all do. Thanks for sharing your brainstorm-I love it.

If it is called brainstorming, it has to show a little bit of overload, a little bit of mess, a little chaos. It is still an amazing drawing. Be good to yourself.

But Andrea, I like the piece. It's a brainstorm, it is supposed to have a bit of a frenzy to it. I don't think it's overworked.

You didn't draw a treasure map. You drew a treasure. Nicely done.

I like it. It is was it is. As an artist I find that I am my worst critic.

Hi, my sister told me about you and gave me the link to your blog and I love it! Your drawings are so beautiful. My sisters and art teacher in Buxton and has been using your work to inspire her kids at school.

I’d love you to see what she wrote about you on my blog. She’s called Katy and it’s the 5th comment down, not including any of mine :)

Weird. Not only do I not see a smudge but I think it's wonderful just as it is! Pat yourself on the back and tell yourself good job! Then turn to the inner critic stick out your tongue and repeat after me: Nanny nanny boo boo. (And you could follow it up with the words go stick your head in doo-doo if you want cause that's where our critics belong :)

Great stuff as usual!!

LOL. You make me feel so good. I'm not the only one who does this. :) Thank you.

But . . . If I put it away for a day or three, it never fails to look better. ;)

I like you work.
