a little bag

A little embroidered bag. I've had this bag for ages. Don't know when I got it. Where I got it from. Whether I bought it myself. Whether it was a gift. Just don't know.

Andrea,
It says a lot about an artist if they can take a regular ball point pen (something I hate to draw with) and create the beautiful things that you have made. I am simply awed by the elegent, simple forms that you use in your work. Very powerful. I love your stuff!

You have such a unique, translucent, serene style, Andrea.

Even if you don't know the where when and why of this bag, you have now made it famous. It is wonderful and the texture to me looks like suede.

Andrea-
another gorgeous drawing. I agree with Witness ... I've got now idea how you do this, but it's beautiful.

You left some lighter spots on the bag which make it so realistic. Beautifully done. Irritatingly well rendered. :-)

Thank you!

I'm not very pleased with this is at actually went wrong. The bottom of the bag is far too dark. It was just so difficult to draw around the embroidery - I had originally wanted it all to be the same shade of the top. Still, you can't win them all....

Cheers guys!

wait a second, Andrea. I don't think the bottom of the bag is too dark at all (oh yeah and did you notice this is my second time checking your blog in a few hours!!). And i forgot to mention that what i get my kicks out of is the little cord. It is the only indication that the bag is sitting on a flat surface -- and i think that's brilliant. Your style is so darn unique.

Andrea,

I am really impressed with your technique with ballpoint. I used to draw with ballpoint pens when I was in highschool - a very long time ago. You have taken the medium to great new heights! What marvelous drawings! And the shading is perfect for this bag.

Why, thank you both!

I think, as well as pencil, ballpoint is my favourite medium. For me it's the easiset and most comfortable thing to draw with.

Thank you for visiting...once..twice...however many times you'd like!!! Cheers!
